The relationship between time and journalism is a complicated one. If the journalists need time to deepen their digital skills for reporting, it might seem like an impossible affair.

To address that challenge, the Google News Lab has launched a series of advanced online learning programs focused on helping journalists quickly develop skills across key disciplines in digital journalism  on their own time.

The News Lab has worked with Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, Poynter Institute for Media Studies and Journalism and Media Studies Centre at The University of Hong Kong to develop this content, focused on serving multiple languages, regions, and topics.

At the moment, they have three main courses:

  1. Intensive courses on advanced tools for journalists

  2. Verification and immersive storytelling courses

  3. Data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation

For more information about their training offerings and to sign up for these programs, visit this link.  If you have suggestions for other topics and formats you can propose them sending an email to newslabsupport@google.com .
